7/3/2023 0 Comments First poldark book![]() In another break from tradition I must also warn you that whilst I have tried to shy away from any spoilers in my previous posts, if you haven’t read the Poldark novels, or seen the TV series, you may wish to look away now, (or rather, when I tell you to), as this post will be far from spoiler-free. Having read the first two novels last year, however, I deliberately waited to read Jeremy Poldark and Warleggan until after the release of the second series, as the TV show tracks the plot of both books combined (just as the first series takes its material from both Poldark and Demelza – the first two novels) and I am someone who prefers to watch an adaptation before reading its counterpart (watching something prepares the groundwork for reading whereas reading first can make the watching slightly… disappointing, in my experience). ![]() And I have to admit, I wasn’t disappointed. ![]() After watching the first series of the recent BBC adaptation of Graham’s well-loved novels, I wanted to try the story for size myself. I don’t think it will take anyone long to guess why I was first drawn to this series of books. Two for the price of one! Aren’t you lucky? During the past month I have been ploughing my way (excuse the pun) through Winston Graham’s Poldark series and as such, to throw tradition out the window, I am going to blog about not one book, but two – Jeremy Poldark and Warleggan (books three and four out of twelve). ![]()
